We are currently seeking a passionate and highly motivated Assistant Ice Technician to join our team.
Reporting to the Director of Curling and Head Ice Technician, the Assistant Ice Technician supports day-to-day curling ice operations and helps maintain playing conditions to Westmount’s high standards. This seasonal, part-time role contributes to an exceptional experience for members and guests throughout the curling season.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support ice installation in October under the direction and guidance of the Head Ice Technician.
- Support and perform day-to-day ice maintenance tasks for the curling department, including but not limited to pebbling, scraping, sweeping, nipping, monitoring and recording ice equipment information, and general maintenance duties (cleaning, vacuuming, maintaining cleanliness of the rink area and equipment room).
- Support ice removal and storage of rocks, signage and equipment in April under the direction and guidance of the Head Ice Technician.
- Build strong relationships with members and guests, helping to create a welcoming and engaging curling environment.
- Provide support to the Curling Operations team as needed during regular operations, league play, and special events.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Assistant Curling Ice Technician certification, formerly Level 1, is an asset. Candidates who are willing to obtain this certification may also be considered.
- An understanding of the sport of curling and a genuine desire to provide exceptional experiences for members and guests.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy seasonal environment.
- A professional, approachable, and team-oriented attitude with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including daytime, evening, and weekend shifts throughout the curling season.
- Physical ability to perform ice making and maintenance activities.
