About the Ontario High-Performance Sport Initiative (OHPSI)
Curling Ontario has been a proud member of the Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative (OHPSI), operated by the Canadian Sport Institute of Ontario, since 2017.
Designed in 2010, the Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative (OHPSI) supports a comprehensive provincial high performance sport system that allows for sustained success of athletes and coaches at the very highest levels of international sport.
The overarching objective of the OHPSI is to identify and support Ontario athletes who are best capable of achieving future international success on senior national teams in targeted winter and summer Olympic/Paralympic and Pan/Para Pan‑Am Games sports.
The program also aims to build robust and aligned relationships across Provincial and National Sport Organizations (PSOs and NSOs), ensuring efficient and appropriate use of system resources, to enhance opportunities for athletes and coaches to train and compete across the full Long Term Athlete Development pathway in Ontario. This approach is closely aligned with Own the Podium’s vision and strategy to optimize a targeted approach for increasing Canada’s potential for future international podium performances.
Participation in the OHPSI program affords Curling Ontario additional resources to support coaching and technical leadership, access to sport science and sport medicine professionals, assistance with program development and planning, and support for the daily training environment and competition aspirations of program athletes.
Curling Ontario values its partnership with the CSIO through the OHPSI.
