Curling Ontario Seeks Members for Expanded Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility (IDEA) Working Group
Curling Ontario is inviting applications for new members of its IDEA working group (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility). After two years of focused work — from launching e‑learning and a suite of IDEA resources, to rolling out the Club Accreditation program and the Sticks & Stones initiative — we’re ready to build on that momentum. Identifying a goal of representation from diverse and underrepresented communities within curling, this expanded working group will drive the next phase of our IDEA strategy, deepen our impact across clubs and communities, and help position Curling Ontario as a national leader in inclusive, accessible sport. Join us to shape bold, meaningful change and amplify inclusion across Ontario curling.
The IDEA working group will:
- Lead delivery, oversight and evaluation of the IDEA strategy and its deliverables.
- Advise the Board of Directors and CEO, policy and operational matters related to inclusion and accessibility.
- Support program development and resource creation for clubs and leaders.
- Mentor clubs through the Club Accreditation program and participate on subgroups focused on Communications, Education and Resource Development.
Interested individuals should expect to contribute approximately ten hours per month, attending bi-monthly meetings with additional work required between meetings. For more details, check out the terms of reference here:
Recent IDEA highlights include:
- a new e‑learning module
- Club Accreditation Program
- a suite of resources for clubs and leaders
- Sticks & Stones initiative.
We are searching for individuals with relevant lived or implementation experience of IDEA principles to serve a two to three-year term in implementing the plan’s deliverables.
The selection of committee members will prioritize a diverse membership that meaningfully reflects the curling community across Ontario. This includes consideration of equity‑denied groups, a range of identities and lived experiences, varied levels of curling participation, and representation from different regions of the province. The goal is to ensure the committee brings a broad mix of perspectives that strengthens its ability to guide IDEA work with relevance, credibility, and community alignment.
Application Deadline is July 17, 2026
