Curling Ontario Opens Nominations for 2025 Awards Program

Curling Ontario is excited to announce the commencement of nominations for its esteemed awards program, recognizing exceptional individuals and clubs/organizations whose dedication and efforts have significantly impacted the sport of curling in Ontario.

Nominations are now open for the following awards:

Community Hero Award
This award recognizes individuals or groups who have made extraordinary contributions to curling and their community. As a nominator, you have the opportunity to shine a light on a dedicated contributor at your club who enhances the experience for everyone and is always willing to lend a hand for the greater good. The Community Hero Award celebrates those who display remarkable commitment to their local curling community through volunteer work, innovative initiatives, or outstanding leadership.

IDEA Award
This award celebrates and recognizes an individual or curling club/centre that welcomes, promotes and supports underrepresented and/or marginalized communities. This individual or organization demonstrates the appreciation and celebration of Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) in the sport of curling.

Lifetime Achievement Award (Builder Category)
The Lifetime Achievement Award in the Builder Category acknowledges those who have shown extraordinary commitment to building the sport of curling in Ontario. Their lasting contributions have positively impacted curling in their community, organization, or the province. This award celebrates individuals who have made significant achievements on the ice as well as those whose invaluable contributions behind the scenes have shaped the sport for future generations.

“As we embrace another season, it’s time to shine a spotlight on the remarkable individuals who have made significant contributions to the curling community,” said Matt Allen, Executive Director of Curling Ontario. “We invite all members of the curling family to take part in recognizing these exceptional candidates for our awards. Let’s celebrate those who inspire us all with their unwavering commitment and passion for the sport of curling!”

Nominations for the Curling Ontario awards are now open, and individuals are encouraged to submit their nominations by 4:00 PM on April 25, 2025. For more information and to submit a nomination, please visit our award nomination webpage.

All candidates will be contacted by the Nominations and Awards Committee Chair by August 1, 2025. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact nominations@curlingontario.ca. All submissions will be collected by the Member Services Coordinator.
