Why is Curling Ontario transitioning its club affiliation process?
- This is part of a national strategy where all provinces and territories will be transitioning to a central registration system. Curling Ontario, Northern Ontario Curling Association, and Curling Quebec are the pilot provinces with Curling Canada this year.
- The intention is NOT to collect personal and private information, our goal is to collect club data and understand the curling ecosystem so we can better develop programs, resources, and measurements of curling in Ontario moving forward
- We (collectively as a sport) need to better understand curling in Ontario. For example, we would like to be able to answer questions for you on how many wheelchair accessible clubs, how many youth curlers there are in Ontario, how many clubs are municipally owned, etc. so we can share that information for your benefit.
- By using CurlingReg, clubs will benefit from improved statistical reporting and data management capabilities. This allows for better tracking of member numbers and facilitates informed decision-making for future programming and resources.
- We need to be better communicators with you as club leaders. Because many clubs have high turnover of their boards and leadership, this system will allow us to have automated and up to date contact information for club representatives.
- We are focused on improving our operational efficiencies by automating our processes so we can spend more time developing resources and programs for your benefit.
- The system promotes better engagement among club representatives and members, facilitating communication and collaboration within the curling community.
- Members of affiliated clubs will gain exclusive access to valuable Curling Ontario resources such as webinars, policy templates, and program materials.
