GENERAL MANAGER

About Us

Leaside Curling Club, with 8 sheets, more than 1,100 members and 20+ leagues for curlers of all ages and abilities, is Ontario’s largest curling club, located in Central Toronto. We are seeking our next General Manager to lead the club, starting in the spring of 2026.

The General Manager of the Leaside Curling Club is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the club, providing high-quality service to members and visitors, and ensuring the success and sustainability of the club’s programming and facilities. The candidate will be experienced in business, member communications, marketing, recreation and facilities management.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and supervise all club operations, including leagues, bonspiels, clinics, and special events.
  • Provide leadership to all staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation.
  • Manage administrative functions such as membership records, registration, and communication.
  • Develop and manage the club’s annual budget, monitor financial performance, and report to the board of directors.
  • Promote the club and its programming through marketing, public relations, and community engagement activities.
  • Ensure building and equipment maintenance, health and safety compliance, and a welcoming club environment.
  • Liaise with board of directors, club committees, volunteers, and external partners.

 

Qualifications and Skills
  • Significant management and leadership experience, preferably in a not-for-profit, sports, or recreation environment.
  • Financial management skills and experience with budgeting and reporting.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated written communication skills.
  • Marketing and event promotion experience, including the use of social media and website management.
  • Knowledge of curling, club operations, and facility management considered an asset.
  • Required certifications: Smart Serve, Standard First Aid, CPR Level C with AED.

 

Working Conditions
  • Full-time year-round position, with reduced hours in the summer and off-season and increased hours during curling season (including some evenings and weekends).
  • Reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Salary range: $80,000-$100,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
